New York dinner cruises leave from one of six piers: Pier 36 on the East River, Piers 61 and 62 at Chelsea Piers on the Hudson, Pier 40 in the West Village, Piers 79 and 83 in Midtown, or Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City. They are miles apart, so check the pier on your voucher before you set off, and plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the sailing.

Getting there

Chelsea Piers (61 and 62). The C and E trains stop at 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue; from there it is a walk of about three long blocks west to the river. The M23 crosstown bus ends at the piers. Pier 62 is at the north end of the complex, so allow a few minutes inside it.

Pier 36. On the East River below the Manhattan Bridge, a walk from the F train at East Broadway. Taxis know it as Pier 36 on South Street.

Piers 79 and 83. On Twelfth Avenue in Midtown, a long walk west from Times Square. NY Waterway runs a free shuttle bus to Pier 79 for its cruise; the M42 crosstown bus runs along 42nd Street to Circle Line.

The boats leave on time and cannot wait for late guests, which is the most common reason for a missed cruise in the reviews: one Classic Harbor Line guest waited at the wrong end of the pier. Find your boat’s check-in point first, then get a drink.
